Emergency Lockout in Montgomery County
A lockout is not a project — it is a problem that needs to be gone. When you call Penn Locksmith you get a technician on the phone who can tell you what the job involves and what it costs before anyone gets in a truck. No dispatcher reading from a script, no "the technician will quote you when he arrives."
We open doors without drilling them wherever the lock allows it. Most residential and automotive lockouts are picked or bypassed, which means you keep your existing lock and your existing key. Drilling is a last resort for high-security or damaged cylinders, and if that is where a job is heading we tell you before we start, not after.
We are based in Elkins Park, which puts us in the middle of the eastern half of Montgomery County. Cheltenham, Jenkintown, Abington, Glenside and Wyncote are minutes away. We cover the rest of the county too — call and we will give you an honest arrival window instead of a guess.
How an emergency lockout actually goes
- 1
Tell us which door
Front, back, storm door, car, storefront. The door decides the method, and the method decides the price — so this is the first thing we ask.
- 2
We quote it before dispatch
You hear a number while you are still on the phone. If your lock is a type that may need drilling, you hear that too, along with what a replacement cylinder would cost.
- 3
ID at the door
License matching the address, a lease, a piece of mail — something reasonable. It takes thirty seconds and it is the reason you can trust anyone who does this work.
- 4
Picked, not drilled
The lock comes open and keeps working. You use the same key tomorrow. Drilling only happens on high-security or already-damaged cylinders, and only after you agree to it.
Emergency Lockout — common questions
How fast can you get here?
It depends on where you are and what else is running. Call and we will give you a real arrival window on the phone. If we cannot get to you quickly we will say so rather than leave you waiting.
Will you have to drill my lock?
Usually not. Most lockouts are opened by picking or bypassing the lock, which leaves it working exactly as it did before. Drilling is only for locks that cannot be picked or are already damaged, and we tell you before we do it.
Do I have to prove I live here?
Yes. We ask for ID showing the address, or a lease, or another reasonable proof of residence. Every legitimate locksmith does this. It is what stops someone from using us to break into your home.
Are you actually open at 2am?
Yes. We answer 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.
